No ponies in Chania harbour
You may recall from our pictures of the harbour last year that one of the permanent fixtures of Chania's old town are the horses and carts that take tourists around.
Well so far, thanks to some bureaucratic bungling at the local town hall, they are yet to appear.
According to Kydon TV's "Crete News and Life" programme, the horse and carriage owners have been issued with permits to operate this year by one branch of Chania's municipality, but the people who run the harbour haven't given them permission to be there to ply their trade.
There was due to be a meeting about it last week, but so far the horses have still failed to appear.
There is no word as yet if, like last year, the owners are threatening to go on hunger strike over the issue.
