Salzburg 2014 Winter Olympic bid
Having lived in one city that has won the Olympics, Salzburg will be hoping I'll give them my magic touch to their bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Mind you, I can't say that on first impression I supported their logo, which features the globe inside the petals of an edelweiss flower.
Now I know we inflicted Eddie The Eagle on the Winter Olympic movement, but surely it seems a bit harsh to have wiped the whole of the British isles from the map? This must be a case for the Daily Mail to moan about - after all remember the fuss they made when an EU publication left Wales off a stylised map of Europe?
However, I soon calmed down when I noticed that Japan and new Zealand had been airbrushed away as well.
Salzburg failed to win the 2010 Winter Olympics, losing out to Vancouver, so will be hoping it is second time lucky. This time they face opposition from a politically sensitive bid backed by both North and South Korea, and a bid from Sochi in Russia.
And all we can talk about here in Vancouver is the guaranteed legacy of debt the Olympics will bring, the deflated roof of BC Place (our stadium) and where to hide the downtown East side...
