Record breaking kebab shop in Hania

Oloi They say you learn something new every day, and that certainly seemed to be the case in Hania. It was only because one morning a particularly grumpy bus driver decided to drop us off at a slightly random place on the edge of Plateia 1866, that we walked right by the ΓΥΡΟ ΓΥΡΟ ΟΛΟΙ fast food joint. It turns out that they have two world record certificates in their window.

On the 19th May 2001, Nektarios Fintikakis and Georgios Mavroleon put Hania into the Guiness Book of World Records by making the world's largest pita bread, and then stuffing it with the world's largest ever souvlaki. The pita bread was 1.9 metres by 1.6 metres, and the souvlaki weighed in at a hefty 270kg. Who would have thought, eh?
