Dear Cristiano Ronaldo...

I somehow suspect the little Portuguese midfielder may well have a bulging mail sack when he gets back for pre-season training at the MU Rowdies Glazerdome Old Trafford, but I was sorely tempted to write myself.

Dear Mr. Ronaldo

Whilst watching the recent World Cup match between Portugal and England, I couldn't help but notice the prominent way that you raised you eyes to the heavens, pointed to the sky, and crossed yourself as if to thank God for your victory.

I found myself wondering whether you also thanked God and did this at other significant moments in your life, say, to pluck a random example from thin air, perhaps when you and your friend were about to spend the evening taking turns to have pre-marital casual sex with two different women who you had only met in a night club that very evening?

Or was your display of thanksgiving and piety on the field in Germany just an ostentatious show of religious hypocrisy?
