Our first home-grown Mojito

If you followed our travelogue when we were making our way through Europe to Crete, you'll know that for Claire a Mojito was the regular staple of cocktail o'clock. Well on Sunday we had our first home-made Mojitos. Using ice crushed in the food blender, and mint grown on our balcony.

If you want to try this at home, the recipe, which can be found along with hundreds of others at About Cocktails, is as follows:
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp sugar
- 6-8 mint leaves
- club soda
- 1 lime, halved
- 2 oz light rum
- mint sprig for garnish
Preperation:
- Place the sugar, the mint leaves, and a little club soda into a highball glass.
- Muddle well to dissolve the sugar and to release the mint flavor.
- Squeeze the juice from both halves of the lime into the glass.
- Drop one half of the lime into the glass.
- Add the rum.
- Stir.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Add the rest of the club soda.
- Garnish with the mint sprig.
- Cheers!
