OTE say no

So we hit our first real bureaucratic snag on Tuesday. I went to the OTE shop to start the process of getting our fixed line telephone put on, and hit an immediate brick wall. They won't open a new account without my passport AND my residence permit AND my Greek tax number. Those of you following the story will be aware that so far I only have one of these things. "But I pay my tax in the UK" I protested in vain. No deal. Obviously, given that I am hoping to earn money remotely via the interent, not having a phone line or broadband in the house is quite a pressing issue.
