Kefalonia Kicker cocktail recipe
You might from time to time spot a reference to a 'Kefalonia Kicker', which is a cocktail we "invented" when we were staying on the Greek island of Kefalonia. I say invented, because we improvised it on the spot, but I kind of assumed someone else somewhere would have come up with the same mix, and eventually we'd find out the proper name for it.
My reasearch has drawn a blank though. The closest I can find is that it is based on a Greyhound or Salty Dog, which is a mixture of vodka and grapefruit juice. A Firefly adds grenadine into the mix, but still isn't there yet. So maybe there isn't a "proper" name for it.
Anyway, to make a Kefalonia Kicker at home you need to put two ice cubes in a tall glass. Add a shot of vodka. Fill the glass, mixing in equal measure in this order lemonade, grapefruit juice and orange juice. Stir well, then add a slice of lemon and a slice of orange to decorate. We find that it tastes better if you use cloudy lemonade rather than the clear stuff - think Fanta Icy Lemon and you are approaching the kind of lemonade we have been buying here. Enjoy!
